AN EPIC DOODLE BIRTH
Do you know when a golden doodle is ready to birth her puppies?
The signs are actually similar to the ones we human ladies give when we’re ready.
On July 7th, all the signs were there. And seven itty bitty golden doodles came into the world in a very hilarious way… of course, this ONLY happens in our home.
It’s 2pm, and we’re all about to go for a swim. I had the whole family over, so everybody - cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles – was ready to cool off from this Texas summer heat.
Our very pregnant Ruby starts acting a bit strange. My mom thinks she’s in labor, but the rest of us think she is nesting. Never did we think she was about to deliver some puppies.
Mom takes her into her bedroom, calms her down, and puts on an episode of Shark Tank. Normally Ruby is a sucker for game shows, but she insists on going for a walk. We take Ruby to her delivery room, but she doesn’t like that either. We think maybe she wants to get some sun and swim outside with the kids.
At that point, I remembered from my own pregnancy that midwives would send expecting moms on walks to help with contractions and jumpstart the delivery. My mom and I looked each other in the eyes and decided to take Ruby for a walk. Mom grabbed a leash and started out the front door. My niece tagged along, meanwhile the rest of the family went back to the pool.
Not even a minute after my mom and niece left for Ruby’s walk, I heard a high-pitched loud scream. The door swung open and my niece squealed, “Tia! Tia!” which means “aunt” in Spanish. She was grinning ear to ear.
Ruby was having her puppies outside in the front patio.
MOTHER OF GOD….
I ran outside with a puppy pad to deliver the first pup under our blossoming magnolia tree. Here I thought Ruby needed to pee, and instead she squirted a puppy out to this world!
Rays of sunshine beamed through the tree leaves, birds were chirping, and the deer across the street stopped their chewing to look over. This might as well have been a scene from Snow White with all the woodland creatures coming out to celebrate.
We welcomed our first doodle…what a handsome, bronze miracle! Oh my lord, he was a cutie pie… I couldn’t believe I was holding such a special life in my hands.
OUR FIRST GENERATION OF PETITE GOLDEN DOODLES WAS BORN:
Ruby did amazing during labor and gave us five golden doodle males and two females. She loves her babies and is a very graceful, gentle new mom. Now her puppies are growing more cute and pudgy daily.

We are so lucky to say that all of our babies have found precious families before their birth, and we have families waiting on golden doodle puppies from Chloe and Coco in the fall and winter of 2019.
